Victorian Clear Paste & Mother of Pearl Brooch
£32.00
A 19th Century antique brooch that has been influenced by the early Arts and Crafts Movement by its unusual form and the use of a Mother of Pearl. The four lovely foil-backed Paste Stones sparkle in their claw settings and the metalwork is beautifully detailed with a Beaded edge and a Geometric pattern, Circles within Squares.
Although the metal appears at a glance to be aged Gilt Brass, there is a loss of plating on the back and a little on the front which reveals an underlying Silver colour, possibly unmarked Silver, since it doesn't feel heavy enough to be pot metal. The pin operates from a Tubed Hinge and it has a "C" Clasp. A beautiful brooch for your collection.
Please note: As mentioned above there is a loss of plating to the back and a little on the front but this is still a beautiful antique piece of jewellery and history in need of a good home.
